5 Life-Saving Tips for Pregnant Mammas! When I first found out I was pregnant my first reaction was excitement, my second reaction was an overwhelming “now what?!?” Here are my top five tips for new moms to help them get through the start of their first pregnancy.
5 Life-Saving Tips for Pregnant Mammas
1. Research to find a good Doctor
a. First, figure out where your insurance covers for delivery and visits! That way you don’t end up falling in love with other people’s suggestions and then have to start back at square one because your insurance won’t cover that doctor.
b. Ask friends and family for suggestions, but also consult the internet. Each hospital has a list of ob-gyn’s and they are usually rated and commented on. The search is worth it because you want a doctor that you feel confident in.
c. If you don’t know what to even look for in a doctor, ask others what they liked and didn’t like about their doctors. That way you’ll start to develop an idea for what you want.
2. Connect with Baby Center
Baby Center is a website and/or app that gives you daily info on what to expect and do while pregnant. I searched for good baby apps as soon as I found out I was pregnant and ended up choosing Baby Center. I immediately loved it! Then one day my husband was talking to a neighbor who is a Child Development Psychologist, who specializes in teaching new dads about what to expect, and he told us that they suggest Baby Center to everyone they work with because it is the best out there. http://www.babycenter.com/

3. Get an up-to-date book
My doctor actually gave me this book, but it’s also been suggested to me by several people. It’s called “Your Pregnancy and Childbirth” by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. They are the leading experts in women’s health care and they know their stuff! Even though Baby Center was telling me pretty much the same information, it was nice to see it in a book as well, and be able to read more in depth and jump around to see what to expect.

4. Battle morning sickness with hope!
I got seriously bad morning sickness, and after trying a few unsuccessful remedies, felt hopeless and quite trying to fight it. I was throwing up six times a day and didn’t think anything could help. Finally though I had one good day, and so I started trying every remedy imaginable because I couldn’t handle it any more. The thing that did the trick for me was Nausea Popsicles (for the recipe
click here) and some Zofran from the doctor. Don’t give up, you will find something that helps!!
5. Get some free baby stuff!
The store Motherhood Maternity gives you a gift bag of free new-baby goodies when you register with them. We got a bottle, gift cards to places like shutterfly, baby cremes, and a lot of coupons! I’m sure there are a lot of other places that do something like this, so get out and get excited for your little baby! (If you know of other places feel free to leave them in the comment section. I will probably post them in a later post if I find more!)
