DIY Thanksgiving Decorations

I love decorating for the holidays!  Each holiday is so different that it’s fun to come up with new things. I’m in love with my THANKS sign. It was so simple to do but makes a big statement. First, I sprayed my board with a texture spray paint. It is so cool, it looks completely different that regular spray paint.

I found the wood letters at Walmart for under $2 each. Using an old book that had pages that had yellowed, I Modge Podge the pages to the letters.

thanks wheat

The wheat, we used at Cassie’s wedding last November and I purchased it from Save on Crafts. They have crafts that are 20% to 70 % off every day. I hot glued the wheat to the top and my hubby put a small screw through the letters. I love it!

I saw this idea on TV, somewhere but the picture doesn’t do it justice. It looks amazing! I bought a pumpkin from the Dollar Store and yarn from Walmart. The thicker the better for the yarn.

Put a big dollop of hot glue on the pumpkin and then place the yarn in a circular position. You can decide on how big of the circle you want. Repeat steps until the whole pumpkin are covered.

The wreath is made out of leftovers from Cassie’s wedding too! Save on Crafts has these delicate wood flowers that are reasonably priced and the ribbon is one of the chair ties. The cute little chalkboard is from Pick your Plum.

If you haven’t checked out these sites, you need to! I’m not getting paid to tell you that, they are simply amazing.

  1. I love decorating for Thanksgiving! At my mom's house she decorates for Fall in October, and then adds in her Thanksgiving decorations (i.e. turkey and pilgrim everything) in November. Thanks for sharing these ideas with Hump Day Happenings.

  2. All of your projects are so wonderful and I love that you reused things to make new items. Thanks for sharing them on the Merry Monday Link Party and hope you can join us again at 6pm PST on Sunday.

  3. Those are such cute ideas! Love the thanks sign especially. What a bargain on those huge letters! Thank you for sharing it and your yummy peanut butter cookie recipe at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great week!
    Blessings, Deborah
