Crockpot Pork Carnitas

We love tacos and we really love Crockpot pork carnitas as tacos or burritos!

This is one of the meals that I prepped before hand and put in the fridge. It worked out great and tasted amazing. I think putting the seasoning on the meat and leaving it in the fridge a couple days really helped the meat be a great flavor! Then crisping it after made it extra good! Tacos, burritos or salads would all work for this meat.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 tablespoon salt, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 5 garlic cloves peeled and mashed
  • 2 onions, quartered
  • 3/4 freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/3 cup lime juice

 

Directions

  1. Mix together the seasonings in a bowl and coat the outside of the meat. 
  2. Place seasoned meat in the crockpot with the remaining ingredients.
  3. Cook on low for 8 hours.
  4. Preheat the oven to broil.
  5. Shred meat and place on cookie sheet, and spread out top with the juice and broil until the meat tips are crispy and brown.
  6. Enjoy warm as tacos or burritos.
