Easy Oreo Easter Chicks
I’m always looking for a fun craft or activity that I can do with my kids. It is always so much more fun making cute treats when my kids can help and I’m not stressed about how it will turn out. These are the perfect solution!
Easy Oreo Easter Chicks
Here’s what you’ll need:
Shredded Coconut
Wilton Yellow Candy Melts
Orange Jelly Beans
Mini Chocolate Chips
Yellow Food Coloring
Wax Paper
Cookie sheet
Directions:
Start by setting up all your ingredients in an assembly line in small bowls.
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Cut of one end of the orange jelly beans so they have a flat side to stick to the chocolate dipped Oreo.
Separate chocolate chips into a bowl next to prepared jelly beans.
Have another bowl of uncut jelly beans next to the chocolate chips.
Next, color your shredded coconut. I used Wilton food coloring gels. You can find them at Walmart in the cake decorating section. Just get a 1/4 of a teaspoon and stir it in until it’s evenly coated.

Now it’s time to melt your Wilton Candy melts. It’s easiest if you just use the ones that are already the color you want. Luckily, they also had these at my local Walmart. Just follow the directions on the back of the package to melt.
Now you can start your assembly line. With one hand, dip the Oreo into the melted candy melts.
Then dip gently into the colored coconut.
Put covered Oreo on lined wax paper and quickly find two mini chocolate chips to use for the eyes. If you shimmy it into the coconut it will stick, because the chocolate won’t be hardened yet. It’s easier to do it that way than trying to dip the small chocolate chip into the melted chocolate. Trust me, I tried it, they are too tiny to hold onto.
Next, use your cut orange jelly bean for a beak. You can use a small spoon to cover the end of the jelly bean with chocolate first.
Finally, dip the ends of the whole orange jelly beans in melted chocolate and add to the bottom of the Oreo.
Voila! So easy and so cute.
My kids helped me by finding the orange jelly beans and dipping the chocolate coated Oreo into the coconut. They had so much fun.
We also used green Candy melts, and these cool Great Value Sprinkles with Easter Eggs to make a grassy place for the chicks to rest.Let your imagination run wild and have fun!

Super cute! Great new way to use oreo's, I'm sick of cookie pops (yes it's possible). We'll have to skip the coconut but I have some yellow designer sprinkles we can use. Thanks!
I made some without coconut and they were equally as adorable, but my kids chose the coconut ones for the pictures. Thanks!
