I love breakfast casserole all through the year but especially at Christmas time! Nothing is better than throwing this bad boy in the oven while you are opening up presents. The delicious smells feel the air and make it feel magical!

TIPS AND TRICKS

MAKE AHEAD: Go ahead and make this the night before. That makes it so easy to put it in the oven and not have a sink full of dishes in the morning. Just remember to sit on the counter for a bit, so it can get to room temperature before baking. If you want to cook it right away, just increase cooking time by about 20 minutes.

TOO BROWN: If the casserole is getting too brown on the top, just make an foil tent on top and this will stop the browning on top.

STORAGE: Leftovers should stay good up to 3 to 4 days if you cover the top tightly. You can also freeze the casserole and it will keep up to 3 months.

PROTEIN: You can use bacon or ham instead of the sausage, if your family isn’t a fan of sausage.

VEGETABLES: Add a green pepper, mushrooms or a fresh chopped onion to take this casserole to a different level.
