Christ Centered Easter Egg Hunt
Click on the link at the bottom of this post to print the directions. Number the eggs on the outside of the shell 1-12 with a magic marker. Place each highlighted item in the corresponding eggs. Hide the eggs. Let the kids open them in order and keep a copy of the the scriptures with you so, as they open the eggs in order, you can take turns reading the story of the crucifixion.
Smaller children might not last long, so I would suggest just explaining the meaning of each item to them. Children 8-years and up are probably old enough to help read and or listen to each of the verses that go along with the eggs.
Christ Centered Easter Egg Hunt
1- Matthew 26: 17-30. Use a cracker in the egg to represent the last supper.
2- Matthew 26: 14-16. Use 3 dimes to represent Judas betraying Jesus 3 times.
3- Matthew 26: 33-36 & 69-75. Use a feather to represent Peter denying Jesus 3 times before the rooster crowed.
4- Matthew 27: 27-31. Use thorns to represent the crown of thorns.
5- John 19:17. Use a cross to represent Jesus carrying the cross.
6- John 19:18 & 20:25-29. Use a nail to show how Jesus was nailed to the cross.
7- John 19: 23-24. Use Dice to represent how the soldiers cast lots for Jesus’ clothes.
8- Matthew 27: 45. Use a dark cloth, or turn off all the lights, to show how darkness covered the whole earth.
9- Matthew 27: 26-48. Use a small Sponge to show how they offered Jesus vinegar on a sponge.
10- Matthew 27:57-60. Use cloth to show how Joseph of Arimethea wrapped Jesus in cloth.
11- Matthew 28: 1-4. Include a small rock and explain how the stone was rolled away.
12-Matthew 28:5-7. Leave the egg empty to show how Jesus is not here, for He is risen.
I love this post. It looks like a lot of fun and making Easter all about Jesus!! LOVE IT!
