Deluxe Caramel Apple Cobbler
We love to Dutch oven cook as a family and usually go several times in the summer. We live close to a lake and it’s a wonderful Sunday afternoon activity, and of course, you need a yummy dessert! That is why we picked deluxe caramel apple cobbler
We have found that if we would mix up the filling and topping mixture at home, it makes it a lot easier when we would go to cook. We tried to do it at the lake and we would always forget one of the ingredients.
The apples and lemon juice go in the
Dutch oven after you put slabs of butter on the bottom. Cover with filling mixture and mix well.
Then cover with the caramel sauce. The topping mixture covers the ingredients in the Dutch oven and then you need to put slabs of butter on the top.
Ingredients:
Filling:
8 large green apples; sliced
1 lemon
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
4 teaspoon cinnamon
¾ teaspoon nutmeg
¾ teaspoon salt
1 jar of caramel sauce
1 stick of butter
Topping:
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup of instant oatmeal
Directions:
1. In a Dutch
oven place slabs of butter on the bottom of the pan. Add apples and the juice
from the lemon; then stir to coat the apples.
2. Add the bag
of filling and pour the dry ingredients over the apples and stir until apples
are coated.
3. Spread out
the apples and pour the caramel sauce over the top.
4. Cover the
mixture in the Dutch oven with the topping ingredients. (That you have prepared
at home). Spread topping evenly over the apples.
5. Put slabs
of butter on top. Cover the Dutch oven and bake by using 10-12 briquettes on
the bottom and then about 16 on the top of the Dutch oven. It will take about
60 to 90 minutes.
We took ice cream in the cooler and it was the right consistency to serve with the cobbler. This recipe is soooooo rich and delicious!
