DIY Landscaping Progress Part 2
DIY Landscaping Progress Part 2! Yesterday I showed you the before on our yard progress. Today I’m going to start by showing you my favorite part of the yard…
The view from my back patio, while snuggling next to the fire.
We got our fire pit at The Home Depot this weekend, and it’s been SO much fun! Someday we’ll have neighbors right behind that rock wall, but for now, I’m totally enjoying the serene view of the birds dancing from tree to tree. I secretly hope I’ll win the lottery so I can buy the lot behind us and keep it the way it is forever.
DIY Landscaping Progress Part 2
We decided not to put much grass in the very front of our house, since we have so much on the sides and back. So we have two little lima bean shaped grassy spots in the front. There will be decorative rock, bushes and trees around the curbing soon, but that’s another big job!
Here’s a better view of the rock wall we had built for us, that’s one thing we couldn’t DIY. We didn’t have the right equipment to skillfully move it and place it. It was well worth the money though.
The landscaper who did it for us was very experienced and he worked very quickly. Luckily for us, we got the rocks for free from a neighbor, we just rented a tractor and a very nice neighbor helped us haul them over. That saved us a TON of money.
The sod took two days to install, and a TON of volunteers. Sadly I couldn’t assist because I’m 30 weeks pregnant and the doctor said, “NO WAY!” I cooked a lot of burgers and treats for our helpers though!
Those lovely weeds will be removed soon, and nice plants and trees will replace them. That might have to wait until next year though, our budget is growing thin.
Here’s the kids’ play area of the lawn. My hubby is going to build a playhouse on the dirt to the left.
And the view from the back of the house. I love the little stairs that the landscaper put in to help the kids get to their play area.
To say I’m excited about the lawn is a HUGE understatement! I have literally been dreaming of the day that we would have our own yard so our kids could run wild in the summer!
This is my Christmas, Birthday, and Mother’s day gift, and I love it!
I can’t wait to show you the rest when it’s done. Eventually, we’ll add a fence too.
