Find Your Happy Home and Happy Life Part 4
Hi, I’m Kimberly, I’m the mom of Jessica, Cassie, and the mother in law to Amber. Our whole goal on the Lou Lou Girls’ blog is to help you create a happy home. There are four of us Lou Lou Girls, each at different ages and stages of creating a happy home, so we hope through this series you can relate, learn, and share with us in our quest for a happy home.
When we decided to do this series I thought it would be easy for me to tell you what makes my home happy, but I have been doing a lot of soul searching for the answer the past three weeks! I realized that some things changed through the years. Let me give you a little background. I married my cute husband when I was 18 years old and I was blessed with my first child by the age of 19! Life started getting crazy when I had 4 kids by the age of 26.
Back then what made my home happy have changed in a few ways. The things that haven’t changed through the years is that my happy, is and always will be my family, my faith, and making memories! Being such a young mom, I was always worried about being the perfect mom and having those around me, be proud of how I was raising my kids, and that is what inspired my “motherhood”. It must of worked, because my 4 older kids are amazing adults and I couldn’t ask for better humans, but it was a lot of stress on me because I was always comparing myself to other moms and wondering if I was doing enough.
When my two younger girls, joined our family, I felt like I was in a pretty good place and felt comfortable with my parenting skills. At least, I was in a spot that I realized that I didn’t care as much about what others thought about me, as a mom, and that was a game changer! I know now that it’s okay if your house isn’t perfectly clean each day, or if you go to McDonald’s for dinner, and not every kid will be a super star! All that matters is that you are happy and so is your family!
Of course, it’s great to get advice and information from others but when it comes to your own family, you are the expert! I also learned to enjoy every minute and that everything doesn’t have to be perfect all the time!
Long story, but the message is, I live on Diet Pepsi, I love my husband (partner in crime), music, watching musicals, rain, happy noises from my kids and grand kids, making memories that will last forever. I have ups and downs like any mom, and I have a good cry at least once a week, hoping that I’m doing enough for my kids. I have learned to find the positive in each and every day. I know for me, I couldn’t raise my kids without my faith and a lot of pray. This is what makes a happy home and happy life for me!
