First Time Mom and Sick Baby

Last week we were supposed to move out of the place we were renting and sure enough Grey got sick and not just a little sick. Freaking croup sick which obviously turned into RSV and then an ear infection. To top it all off he’s getting a tooth. Needless to say we were at a loss of what to do.

We got no sleep for the first couple days because I was worried he was going to do die because he couldn’t breathe and then the ear infection kicked in so we got no sleep because he was whining literally all night. Pretty sure it was my first all nighter in probably 10 years. Yes, I’m old and like my sleep. He wouldn’t eat or drink anything because he had a sore throat on top of that! I took 3 days of work off to make sure my kid lived to 8 months of life and Matt and I tag teamed the situation and he took off 2 days.

Now imagine this when moving all your Junk and yes I quite literally mean junk because that’s what it feels like when you’ve been married four years and fill 8 black garbage cans with junk, and 10×20 storage unit to the brim. Also, the cleaning. Enough said. I am quite literally going to be tired for the next month. Here is what I learned my first time of being a working mom of an adorable sick infant.

  1. Listen to and trust your mom instinct. No body knows your baby like you. If something is off, trust yourself.
  2. Don’t listen to your husband if you think something is wrong. He will think taking the baby is unnecessary, but of the 4 times we went, I’m batting 1000. P.S. my husband is the cutest and best man ever, but he is oblivious sometimes to what’s going on. I think it’s a guy thing.
  3. People will tell you what to do and how to take care of your baby. They just will. Everyone has an opinion and will voice it. It’s your baby, you do you.
  4. Sanitize everything. That’s what we did. Again, up to you.
  5. Enjoy the snuggles.
