French Bread
Matt and I have been trying to make a good sourdough for at least a year. We had heard that putting beer in it, will make it sourer. It didn’t, but what it did do, was make a fantastic French bread!
Probably, the best French bread I have ever had. Even though I was super disappointed that it wasn’t sour, I did love the bread we had! Click here for the printable recipe.

Directions
1. Dissolve yeast, sugar in the hot water. Allow to foam for about 10 minutes.
2. In a stand mixer, sift in about half the flour into the yeast mixture. Add in the beer and egg and remaining flour. Mix until the dough pulls away from the side of the bowl. Let stand in the bowl for 5 minutes.
3. Mix in the stand mixer for on stir for 5 more minutes. Grease the bowl and put the dough in the bowl and allow it to rise until it doubles in size.
4. Cut dough into 2 loaves and shape until it is the desired shape and size. Place on parchment paper, allow rising until it doubles in size.
5. Place a baking stone in the oven and preheat to 400 degrees. Place a pan on the bottom shelf for water to create steam. Boil about a cup of water in a pot on the stove.
6. Brush the top of the dough with the egg wash. Skor the top of the bread and place it in the center of the oven. Dump the boiling water in the pan on the bottom shelf.
