Halloween Window Decorations
What?! You haven’t started decorating for Halloween yet? Well, we have, my husband is CRAZY about Halloween. Like, freakin’ crazy about it. For example, the Ulrich family carves about 90 to 100 pumpkins each year… literally.
What’s that you say? We’re insane in the membrane? We know. It’s a lot of work, but my hubster just loves it. Here is an example of the pumpkin craziness.

Anyway, from the love of pumpkin carving came another love, Windowkins. That’s a strange word that I think my sister-in-law Brooke made up, for using pumpkin patterns to decorate your windows. She has a great tutorial for it here on All Things Thrifty. It’s basically, in a nut shell, projecting a pumpkin pattern onto a black poster board, tracing it with a pencil, cutting it out with a razor blade, and then backing the poster board with tissue paper.
We do ours just a little bit differently than she does though. We make ours with foam board so that it will be more durable, and will last for years and years up in the attic. We also use a thin plastic tablecloth to cover the foam board, so there’s not as much effort in covering every spot with tissue paper. It’s a bit of an eye sore, so I usually keep the curtains shut for the month.
My kids absolutely love the Windowkins, and we always get lots of compliments on them. They are so fun to look at in the night.
Here’s another shot of the front.
Please check out Brooke’s blog for complete instructions, and if you have any questions let us know! We would love to hear from you! Good luck with your Windowkins!
P.S. I forgot to mention that most of those pumpkins were done by only 2 people. My hubby and his brother do about 30 each!

Wonderful blog! I found it while surfing around on Yahoo
News. Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News?
I've been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
