Homemade Apple Crisp
This easy Homemade Apple Crisp is made the old fashioned way like Grandma used to make, and is perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce!
Mike’s mom gave us some apples from her friend’s orchard and of course, we needed to make something unbelievable! Apple crisp is a “must” in the fall.
This will remind you of your grandma with a little twist mixed in!
Homemade Apple Crisp
Ingredients:
Filling:
5 pounds of apples
grated zest of 1 orange
2 Tablespoons orange juice
1 whole lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Topping:
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup oatmeal
2 sticks cold butter, diced
Homemade Apple Crisp
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9×13 baking dish.
- Peel, core, and cut the apples into large wedges. Combine the apples with the zest, juices, sugar, and spices. Pour into the baking dish.
- Topping: Combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and cold butter in the bowl with a mixer. Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of peas. Scatter evenly over the apples.
- Place the crisp on a cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly. Serve warm with a dollop of ice cream and a drizzle of caramel topping.
