Non Toxic DIY Ant Spray
Non Toxic DIY Ant Spray is the easiest way to get rid of ants and not worry about your kids getting into it!
Ellie’s favorite thing to do is throw all of her food on the floor. Not sure if it’s because she likes to save it for later or what. Sometimes if I don’t sweep right before or after I get her down from her chair she goes back for seconds. It’s gross. I feel like I’m constantly mopping because I’m worried she’ll find something that I missed or that I won’t sweep it quick enough.
Well with this horrible habit that she has, we all of the sudden have ants. I can’t see where they are coming from and I hate having them in the house. Matt started vacuuming them up this morning, and then I decided I had to try something. I read that if you ruin their scent trail or something like that it would get rid of them.
Since, Sawyer had recently had a little accident on his carpet in the middle of the night, I had Vinegar, baking soda and dawn dish soap mixture to help clean that up. It helped with the smell immediately and then it faded.
I thought I would try it. I sprayed anywhere and everywhere I had seen the little boogers. We also vacuumed and cleaned all the places that we know that Ellie likes to stash her food. Anyways, it worked and we haven’t seen any ants since. Give it try!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon dish soap
- 1/4 cup water
Directions
- Combine vinegar, dish liquid, baking soda powder, and water in a large bowl and stir gently. Pour mixture into a cheap spray bottle.
- Make sure you mix this mixture over the sink, when you add baking soda to vinegar it creates a lot of foam! I add ingredients slowly, allowing foam to settle before adding more.
- Make sure that the foam has completely settled before securing the bottle’s lid. Spray anywhere you have seen those little pests! Let it sit for 30 minutes and then mop it up.

I wonder if this would work well with the larger carpenter ants as well; we have lots of construction in our neighborhood and we suddenly have an influx of ants. I’ll have to try it out before calling the exterminator. Thanks.
