Packing the Hospital Bag for a C-Section
Packing the hospital bag for a c-section is the last thing you want to stress about when having a baby. Here’s what I always put in my bag!
Packing the Hospital Bag for a C-Section
First of all there are a few things you should do when you are packing your bag.
First you should pack early. Just in case your water breaks or something you need to plan ahead. That’s what I’ll be doing this weekend.
Second, don’t over pack, it’s hard to not do, if you are like me. One thing is, if you do over pack you can send stuff home with your significant other if you do.
Next, they have a lot of things at the hospital, like diapers, wipes, pacifiers, knit caps, and formula, but pack your baby some outfits. For you they have mesh underwear, pads and a lot of the stuff you will need to recover for those couple of days.

Here is a list of things I definitely would pack:
- your own nightgown and/or pajamas that won’t bother your incision
- nursing bras or tanks and nursing pads (if you plan to breastfeed)
- another pair of non-slip socks and/or slippers
- rubber shower shoes
- toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.)
- a hairbrush, or anything you need to do your hair
- makeup
- contact lenses and glasses if you need them
- a nursing pillow to prop baby up away from your incision
- a breast pump (if you plan to pump early on)
- clothes for your stay and a going-home outfit — choose bottoms that won’t dig into your incision or opt for comfortable dresses
- underwear — the hospital provides mesh panties, but bring your own comfortable cotton pairs that will not dig into your incision
- Your phone and a long corded charger
- clothes for baby
- I like to bring my airbuds so that I can watch shows or listen to my true crime podcasts and not scar anyone
- Stanley, they will give you a cup but I love having my mug because it keeps ice water super cold!
- Anything else you think you’ll need!
