Peanut Butter and Jelly Sushi Rolls
Sometimes I like to spoil my kids. I just like making them smile and it usually helps them be excited about their food if you do something special to it. But, let’s be honest here, my kids don’t really like PB & J, in fact, they hate it.
For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to buy a box of peanut butter at a case lot sale. So, sorry kids, you have to eat peanut butter! My tricky way of getting them to eat it is by making these little ‘sushi rolls’. I’m proud to say they asked for more. And even acted excited about them.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sushi Rolls
First, Roll your bread flat with a rolling pin.
Second, spread your peanut butter out on your bread. For this special occasion, I mixed honey and peanut butter in a bowl before spreading it on. The combo of honey and peanut butter is delicious if you ask me!
Third, add a banana to the bottom of the bread. It works best if the banana is cut into quarters, length wise.
Fourth, gently roll the bread up so the bread doesn’t rip.
Fifth, cut the bread into ‘sushi rolls. For some reason, I didn’t feel the need to use a cutting mat the day I made these. What can I say? I’m lazy sometimes!
Last, serve your specialty ‘sushi rolls’ on a fancy plate with a cup of jelly or jam so the kids can dip their rolls into the jelly or their choice!
They are so cute and the kids loved them! What are some creative ways you get your kids to eat food? I can always use ideas, my kids are skinny!
