Sourdough Discard Pizza Dough
Sourdough Discard Pizza Dough is the best pizza dough for a quick dinner.
Tonight we had pizza at Greyson’s request, and the boys wanted to make their own pizza. I had discard on the counter so I decided to throw it into the dough this time and see how it turned out. It was perfect gave the crust a little more chew. It was a super quick recipe and super delicious. Give this recipe a try!
Ingredients
- 210 grams sourdough starter discard
- 8 grams yeast
- 280 grams water
- 25 grams honey
- 30 grams olive oil
- 500 grams bread flour
- 20 grams salt
Directions
- Put all of the ingredients in a stand mixer bowl. Mix using a dough hook until dough is shiny and elastic.
- Coat in olive oil and form into a ball.
- Allow to rise for 1 to 2 hours or until the dough is doubled in size.
- Then punch down the dough and then split into 4 or more balls of dough. I did more for the kids to be able to have personal sized that they could make on their own. Allow the dough to rest for 30 minutes or more to relax the gluten.
- Preheat the oven to 475 degrees.
- When you are ready to use your dough start by pushing it out with your fingers. Then sprinkle some cornmeal on some parchment paper and roll the dough as flat as possible.
- Using a fork, poke holes in the dough in order to let the air out and prevent too much bubbling of the dough. Then add your desired toppings, and brush the crust with olive oil.
- Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until they dough is brown and the cheese is melted.
