Steak Panini!
I love sandwiches! On Sunday, I wanted to make something that went with our chips and sandwiches are a perfect match. We are not the proud owners of a Panini machine and I wanted to make a Panini sandwich. This is a great recipe if you do have one but here’s a twist for those who don’t.
Steak Panini
Ingredients:
Vegetables:
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, thinly sliced
1 small red bell pepper and green pepper, cored, seeded and thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Steak:
1/2 cup Italian dressing
One 1-pound boneless Tri tip steak, cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices
1 Tablespoon olive oil
Panini:1 Tablespoon butter
4 Kaiser rolls, halved
1 1/3 cups arugula
4 slices sharp provolone
Steak Panini
Directions:
- Preheat a grill.
- For the vegetables: In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, onions, peppers, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are soft, 8 to 10 minutes.
- For the steak: While cooking the veggies, marinate steak with Italian dressing in a small bowl. After the veggies are done, remove the veggies from the skillet. In the same skillet, heat the oil over high heat. Add the steak and sprinkle with the salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, until the steak is cooked through to desired doneness.
- For the panini: Add the arugula and top with the cooked vegetables. Arrange the steak on the vegetables and place a slice of cheese on top. Place the tops on the rolls and butter the outside of your bun. Place sandwich on the grill with a heavy skillet to press down the sandwich until the cheese has melted.
