We have a big love at our house for sloppy joes! I have two daughters that use to request this for their birthday dinners! Yes, it’s that good! So I love when I see ideas that can reinvent a family fav!
The combination of our favorite sloppy joe recipe piled on top of crunchy garlic bread and then topped with ooey, gooey cheese, really shakes up things!
TIPS AND TRICKS
- You can add onions and green peppers to add a little different flavor.
- Like spicy? Add a chopped up jalapeno or a little hot sauce.
- Hamburger isn’t your favorite. Replace your beef with chicken.
Texas Toast Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of hamburger
- 2 cans of chicken gumbo soup
- 11/2 cups ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons mustard
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 11.25 ounces Texas Toast Garlic 8 slices
- 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- Fresh Parsley for top, optional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Line a baking sheet with tinfoil and place frozen Texas toast evenly apart.
Bake according to box instructions.
While the Texas toast is baking, brown the ground beef in a skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.
When about 90% cooked through, drain the excess grease.
Add soup, ketchup and mustard to meat and stir until combined.
Turn down the heat, and simmer on low for 5 minutes
Top the Texas toast evenly with the meat mixture.
Add shredded cheese to each of the toast slices.
Return to oven and baked for about 5 to 8 minutes until cheese is melted and beginning to brown.
Once finished, remove from oven and use a spatula to plate. Top with fresh parsley just before serving.
