The First Day of School Celebration
The First Day of School Celebration
The first day of school, kids are so excited to see their friends and to get to know their new teacher. I can’t think of a better way to get their day started off right than to surprise them with a special breakfast celebration!
I just started off with a plastic tablecloth with lots of colors. Hopefully, all the colors will wake them up! You can get the balloons the night before and hide them. The chairs have cute tulle ribbons tied on the back.
Tulle is less than $3.00 a spool at Wal-Mart and I know I can reuse it in my 10 year old’s hair as ribbons or one of my other adventures.
Homemade Funfetti pancakes will make it feel like a celebration! This recipe is delicious!
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 cup half and half
1 cup water
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
4 Tablespoons melted butter, cooled
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 tablespoon sugar
21/2 cups of flour
sprinkles
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine cream, water, yogurt, cooled melted butter and eggs. Mix well.
- Add dry ingredients one at a time, making sure they are well mixed.
- Grease griddle and scoop batter onto the griddle. You might have to help spread out the batter because its a little thicker than regular batter.
- Shake sprinkles onto each pancake. If you mix them in the batter, the colors will run.
- Flip the pancakes when you see bubbles on the top or when you see that the edges are well cooked.
The great thing about this recipe is that its from scratch and you can taste it in the pancakes!
I added spray cream to make it special for the first day, its not a everyday thing.

If your kids aren’t into pancakes, you can make them a smoothie!
Just add frozen strawberries, vanilla yogurt and 2 teaspoons of sugar.
Mix well in your blender. Using the frozen strawberries makes it thick and delicious!
Before they get home from school, borrow their chalk and give them a warm welcome on the front porch!

Take the balloons from the morning table and line the walkway to the house with them. All you need is golf tees and you tie the balloon to it and stick it in the ground! How fun is that!
I love my chalkboard! I have used it for so many things and it just gives your projects that finishing touch.
Here is a small treat for after school! Frozen chocolate bananas, strawberries and peaches! Melt your chocolate chips in the microwave and pour into your ice tray. Put fruit in the middle of each chocolate dollop.
Place them in the freezer and they will be ready when the kids get home!
The bananas will not go brown and the fruit cubes, pop out easily. You will think your in Disneyland having a chocolate covered banana!
