Watermelon Explosion Experiment
Your kids will really love this watermelon explosion experiment. It takes some patience, but it’s worth it!
This is a super fun way to entertain kids for a long time. It takes a significant amount of time and rubber bands to make your watermelon explode under all that pressure, but the anticipation is really one of the best parts. Keep reading…
Watermelon Explosion Experiment
- 1 watermelon
- 500 thick rubber bands (may need more or less depending on the size of your melon)
- First, put the watermelon on something that will help it balance. You could use a bucket to hold it in place, or you could make a small ring with a pool noodle. We just used some scrap wood to prop it up on three sides.
- Next, Make sure you’re in a place that you don’t mind getting messy! Outside is best!
- Now’s the fun part, pull the rubber bands around the melon again and again. Make sure you focus on putting them on top of each other, so the pressure isn’t spread out all over the melon.
- We had 12 kids helping so when one would get bored, another would step in and start adding them.
- When it started looking like it was being squeezed, we moved the watermelon to the lawn to prevent a mess on the concrete.
- Finally, it took about 500 rubber bands to make the watermelon explode! Enjoy!
That is so awesome! When I go home I’m going to try this with my grandkids! They love messy things. Well, not my grand daughter, but the grand sons do. Thanks for linking up to Tips and Tricks. Hope to see you again this week. Pinning this.
